Learning For Life — Summit Event Introductions Part 9
“Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.”— Margaret Mead
As the week draws to a close, I am wrapping up interviewing guests for the Learning For Life Summit Event. What a privilege it has been interviewing all the guest speakers. I have enjoyed and become energized talking to each guest. Some were already dear friends and some who I now consider new friends. I hope once the event airs that the event participants take away as much as I have while talking to each educator. It has been humbling at people’s willingness to share their time, expertise and insight to support the work I am doing. It has turned into a global event with speakers from Australia, Switzerland, and another who grew up in Ecuador.
Dr. Pentón Herrera is someone that I connected with through another speaker that thought he might be interested in participating. It has been such a pleasure meeting him and hearing about his passion for EL learners.
Luis Javier Pentón Herrera, Ph.D. served as the 38th President of Maryland TESOL in 2018–2019. He currently serves as a Dissertation Core Faculty in the Department of Educational Leadership and Administration at the American College of Education and as an adjunct professor of TESOL at The George Washington University and of Spanish at the University of Maryland Global Campus.
