I am excited to announce the Learning For Life Virtual Summit Event coming up the end of January. The event will feature wonderful speakers that are going to share their expertise and insights about education based on their specific area. The focus of the event is student success. How students are on different paths but as educators we have to ensure that they achieve the ultimate goal which is success. I will be talking with school leaders, teachers that are having success, researchers around the topics of: ELL — English Language Learners, school culture, the achievement gap, child nutrition and the brain to name a few.
Today I have the privilege of introducing two educators that happen to be co-authors of two books. Judith B. O’Loughlin and Brenda Custodio.
Judith B. O’Loughlin, M.Ed., a former K-8 ESL teach, provides PD for K–12 teachers, and teaches TESOL endorsement certification courses. She presents nationally and internationally. Her publications include the Academic Language Accelerator, and Students with Interrupted Formal Education: Bridging Where They Are and What They Need and Supporting the Journey of English Learners with Trauma with Brenda Custodio.
Dr. Brenda Custodio is a retired secondary teacher and administrator for Columbus City Schools. She received her Master’s and Ph. D. from the Ohio State University in TESOL. She currently teaches at Ohio State University and also serves as an independent educational consultant. She is a frequent presenter at state and national conferences on literacy for English learners, working with newcomers, students with trauma, and students with interrupted education, especially refugees. She is the author of How to Design and Implement a Newcomer Program and the co-author of both Students with Interrupted Formal Education:Bridging Where They Are and What They Need and Supporting the Journey of English Learners with Trauma with Judith O’Loughlin.
