Growth Takes Time

“But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

As I look out the window today it seems lifeless and desolate outside. Snow is covering the ground and everything seems barren. Days like this in Minnesota cause me to want to hibernate. Even though it appears that not much is happening on the outside, a lot is growing and changing on the inside.

How life feels at times — desolate

As I reflect on the past two years since the initial COVID outbreak in the US, I ponder all the changes that have occurred. It is a strange time and I think moving forward we will have to adjust to a new normal. I saw a startling fact recently that kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students have not experienced a normal school year. They have been subjected to a lot of upheaval and having to adjust to constant changes. This is causing a lot of interruption and trauma to children and their learning. How do we ensure that learning continues at the level necessary to make sure students reach the potential they are capable of and what they need to succeed in the future? With the demands and challenges that educators are facing it is an even more daunting task now than just a few years ago.

All of these changes have made me pause and wonder where my place is or how I can assist teachers, parents and students navigate through all of this? How do we continue to strive and help children thrive amidst the turmoil? One thing for sure is that parents must be hands on and involved in their children’s education. Parents cannot put blind trust in the school system to motivate and push their children to learn and achieve. Parents must be hands on and involved and partner with teachers to support their children and make sure they are learning at an appropriate rate. If we don’t do this, the yearly growth standards for children are going to continue to decline. It is our duty to make sure children attain the level they are capable of with appropriate support from educators and parents.

New growth — have faith!

As I wait, my prayer is that God will reveal the path that He has laid out for me to support parents, teachers and ultimately children. God has given me experiences and opportunities to develop a unique skill set. I am excited to see how the Lord is going to use all that He has given me moving forward. I invite you on the journey with me.
